It is so important to set your intention for your day. You may be wondering what that means. When you set an intention for the day it helps to dictate how your day will go. So, for example when you think things in the morning like “Wow, I really woke up on the wrong side of the bed” you are setting an intention for the day. You are expecting to have a bad day right at the start and most of the time you probably will. So, imagine how awesome your day could go if you started it off with a positive mindset?
Today, we are sharing with you a way to set your intention by using a positive affirmation. If you don’t know what affirmations are, check out our post from last week all about using positive affirmations (read it here).
Our intention for today is:
“I wake up each morning with a grateful heart and an open mind”
This intention is one of gratitude and openness. We want you to be aware and focused on all of the good in your life as well as, opening yourself to all of the great things that may be in store for your day.
When you set your morning intention you can make it anything and it doesn’t necessarily have to be an affirmation, though making it your affirmation does help. You can say things like “Today is a good day” or “I am productive and I succeed in everything I do” or ” I am so happy and grateful for another morning”. The goal is to focus on the good and be in control of how your day goes. You can’t control the events of the day but you can control your mindset and the way you handle it. By starting off in a positive way you are directly influencing the way your day will go. You are using your inner power and let’s face it, our mindset is a powerful thing.
Intention & Meditation
Now, that you have your morning affirmation/ intention you can also step it up a notch and use it in a short morning meditation. Arlene and I make it a point to try to meditate every day. Even if we can only squeeze in a 5-minute meditation, it definitely helps to clear out stress and boost positivity. I honestly feel that by clearing my mind I open myself up to being more creative, productive, and have a sense of inner peace. Basically, we love to meditate and highly recommend it. SO – if you want to really build up your morning intention we have a meditation below by Unlikely Harmony Giver. This video will guide you through a positive morning meditation using the affirmation mentioned above.
I wake up each morning with a grateful heart and an open mind
Pro Tip: Find a cozy place to do this, maybe in your bed as soon as you wake up. There is no voice-over in this video so please do not close your eyes until the text instructs you to. You will know the meditation is complete once the meditative music stops.
