It is February and being that this month hosts Valentine’s Day, one of the key tones for the days to come is love. Since we are talking about love we thought this post would be all about one of our favorite types of love – Self-Love. We are strong believers that you have to love yourself no matter what. When you start loving yourself everything falls into place.
But How?
When you love yourself you are taking your power back, as we always say. Loving yourself means that you take care of yourself – when you feel good and look good you have the confidence to tackle the world. Loving yourself means you do what you want to do. You live your life for you on your terms. It means that you accept what you will tolerate. It means you establish your worth – not allowing others to do so. It also means that you know that you are perfect the way you are and you are already deserving of everything good. You don’t need to change to be somebody else. People grow and change, yes. But, we want you to grow for you and your changes to be turning who you are into a better version of you. This is a recipe for being happy. All of these factors combined turns into you creating the life you have always desired.
To help inspire more self-love we have some awesome quotes below. Feel the love today and carry it with you for all of February!
Self-Love Quotes
1. “You yourself, as much as anybody in the entire universe, deserve your love and affection”
– Buddha
You deserve love no matter what society, your friends, your family, or anyone says. You can have love now. Love is not a place you need to get to. There are no conditions to love.
2. “Too many people overvalue what they are not and undervalue what they are.”
– Malcolm S. Forbes
Value yourself. Stop focusing on everything you lack and start admiring the stuff you have and all the things you like about yourself. Tell yourself you did a good job if you did something awesome. If you have on a cute outfit – tell yourself “Damn, I look good.”. If you have a pretty voice, admire it. If you have good grades, think “Man, I’m smart.” Don’t downplay your accomplishments or undervalue any of your good qualities. When you start patting yourself on the back more instead of constantly putting yourself down, all of a sudden you start loving yourself.
3. “What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.”
– Ralph Waldo Emerson
This is such a great quote. Recognize the power you have within you. Take control of your life and be the creator of your future on your terms.
4. “You have been criticizing yourself for years, and it hasn’t worked. Try approving of yourself and see what happens.”
– Louise L. Hay
So, being hard and negative on yourself does nothing for you. Try being good to yourself for a change.
5.“A healthy self-love means we have no compulsion to justify to ourselves or others why we take vacations, why we sleep late, why we buy new shoes, why we spoil ourselves from time to time. We feel comfortable doing things which add quality and beauty to life.”
– Andrew Matthews
Be you. It is that simple. You don’t have to justify yourself to anyone. Do the things you love often. Be yourself authentically no matter what.
6. “Don’t rely on someone else for your happiness and self-worth. Only you can be responsible for that. If you can’t love and respect yourself – no one else will be able to make that happen. Accept who you are – completely; the good and the bad – and make changes as YOU see fit – not because you think someone else wants you to be different.”
– Stacey Charter
You decide your worth and your happiness cannot rely on others. Decide your value and the world will follow. If you think you are awesome, guess what, everyone will treat you that way. If you know your value, you will get the things you want. People are not responsible for your happiness, you are, so do what makes you happy and only accept the good in your life. No one will do this for you but you.
7. “If only you could sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet; how important you can be to people you may never even dream of. There is something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person.”
– Fred Rogers
I LOVE Mr. Rogers. If you ever need to be uplifted and feel better I highly recommend reading any of his books. Even as an adult his message of self-love is relevant and clear. You matter in this world. You being here has affected others in ways that you probably don’t even know. Love yourself and spread that love to everyone you meet.
